The Third and Final Presidential Debate

My original assessment was that McCain came out swinging hard and fast and had Obama backpedaling... and then the eye-rolling and angry looks started. This video about McCain's palpable anger and disdain for Obama is already on YouTube.

Obama had his best moments on Health Care and Education. It wasn't his strongest debate and on points I'd give it to McCain, but on style it's pretty damn clear McCain does not like Obama and people picked up on that big time, considering the insta-polls have Obama winning by almost 30 points.

Looks like McCain loses. Again. At least he can get some practice for November 4th.

30 points? Most the nonbiased polls I've seen are Obama ahead by 3-4 points MAYBE.

"The Messiah" isn't as far ahead as the Left would like us to believe. This election is far from over.

If Hayden Panettiere endorses McCain, I will too.

Its funny that McCain does worse in a debate format that is more tailored to make him look good. Taking out the free form, town hall aspect you don't have McCain wandering around the stage like he's lost at the mall and he still manages to bull his way into corners and potholes. I think McCain's promose of being more aggressive in this debate blew up in his face, meanwhile Obama sat back, explained himself when necessary and stuck to the questions much better. Was I the only one that thought someone was on the toilet and had left their mic on? Notably when Obama first said "Exxon" you hear McCain groaning like he just pinched a loaf in his pants. Dude needs to remember that the little black thing on his shirt that picks up his voice stays on the entire time.

I'm not sure what an example of a non-biased poll is, but Nate Silver at FiveThirtyEight seems pretty convinced Obama is not just "3 to 4 points ahead."

I mean, do you realize that the Fox News focus group overwhelming said Obama won the debate, right? Like 28 out of 30.

Our only hope is that Republicans stick to what we do best (over generalization I know). Don't watch the debates to see how bad our canditate looks and blindly vote republican. BTW I am voting McCain.

It does suck that the conservative canditate is a retard though, but I think it will still be better than a near socialist.

I really REALLY think he'd have been better off if he had picked Tim Pawlenty, governor of Minnesota, as his VP. I'd actually go as far as saying he'd probably be as close as tied because Pawlenty is a VERY good campaigner and would have gotten a lot of nationwide support (plus he probably would have won MN, which is almost certainly impossible now).

These aren't positive things to the republicans, its just admitting McCain is a fuck up. I don't see a good reason to want the fuck up just because you're afraid of Obama. One person isn't good and one person bad in this, you don't get to this point if that were the case, even McCain has defended Obama as not being a "bad guy." Its a matter of a difference of opinion and a measure of judgment that we have to go on to choose who we want to lead. I think we all know who has shown the better of both.

Well Blind Loyalty is actually the Republican Mantra. You do realize that Republicans vote with the (R) candidate about 90% of the time in every modern election, right? There are a lot more registered Democrats than there are Republicans. If Democrats voted like Republicans, they'd win every single Presidential election.

Democrats are more willing to toss partisan politics aside and pick the perceived better candidate. It's why Bush won twice, even though he was the worse candidate: Democrats voted for him.

But hey got ahead and put the blinders on and vote for the red guy. It's worked in the past, right?

I'd have to say that some republicans put a LOT more thought into voting than you seem to give them credit for, PB. Voting "blindly" isn't how I'd describe how some of my friends vote - they want McCain because they agree with him on policies, not because they think he looks good facing off against Obama (which I certainly don't think he did).

Shel that idea of socialism is terrible. That's what I cant stand about most Republicans. All they care about is which candidate will benefit them the most personally, not the country as a whole. Now I'm sure a lot of you will try to deny this but then tell me whats so bad about Obama raising taxes on wealthy people who can afford it so that he can help people in poverty by providing health care etc. All republicans care about is who will help them the most. By not taxing them so they can make more money. Who cares about everyone else.

2. Which is a better form of socialism? Advocating deregulation that leads to a financial crisis which requires a socialization of the burden, to the tune of about a trillion dollars, which is caused by said deregulation or asking people who earn a lot to contribute more to help improve our education and health care?

Most of the people on Medicaid and Welfair don't need to be, they are simply lazy and want the government to support them, using money taken from people like US who actually WORK for their money.

I wouldn't mind seeing your data that people who are on Medicade and Welfare are all lazy nobodies looking for a free ride. Seems pretty prejudicial to say that.

Our opinions of what qualifies data as being good appears to be different.

We have "projects" in my town but I'm not so pretentious to say that I know why each of them are in government housing or that their circumstances are peachy and they just decided to hope on the "free ride" train one day. If you're willing to go out on a limb like that, thats fine, but don't be surprised if that limb doesn't hold you up for even one step.

I'm not saying ALL of them are, considering one of my best friends is on welfare because his father has MD, but he can't get shit for help for the government, because theres so many leeches on the system. I see A LOT of able bodied people getting a free ride on welfare so they don't have to work.

1. Then why not contribute more to help out your friend?

2. Do the able bodied people live nicely? Are they content with their situation?

3. What is McCain going to do with these issues that is better than Obama's proposals?


I'm having trouble looking for McCain's plan to fight poverty or his ideas of medicaid/welfare reform.
