no So, if I understand this right, you can't see where you are on threat? I only see a damage meter on your screenshot, I do not see an active threat meter window. - Mageofdeath wrote:

I can do whatever is needed I believe the question is, would you be available if asked to come on a trial run at our next scheduled raid (Tuesday @ 6pm st)?[/quote] - Mageofdeath wrote:

Pretty much have 4k+ dps and i know my toon Hmm. Well, would you mind elaborating a bit on how you know your "toon"? Also, since we don't get a [former?] GM to apply every day, would you enlighten me as to why you are applying for another guild? I didn't see a Raid Leader icon in your screenshot, but I do see a Master Looter icon, so if you were in fact the Raid Leader (or even if you weren't), what were some of the short-comings in your guild that led you, and some of your [again, former?] guildies to apply to Damage Done? Attendance issues? Lack of motivation? Terribads who always stood in stuff? Once again, it makes me a bit more curious than normal. Thanks for applying and I'm looking forward to your responses. <3 ~ Sean

I also use healbot which audio alerts me to anyone in the raid needing a decurse and i can decurse quickly... I'm probably the only mage who uses that in raids. Also I know my toon very well I know my toons capabilities and know when to use them, I know what gear and enhancements for for my toon so therefore I know my toon. In conclusion, I am the GM of Death Dealerz which was a decent raiding guild but we had attendance and participation issues which caused raids to either pug and fail.. pug and win....or not happen at all.. We had some very good palyers and had some bad players and after awhile it gets tiresome to have to explain every week the fights...And even though i wasnt raid leader...wasnt my raid was Thealfmans i was the loot master one because i can de and 2 we delegated our raids and i was mostly left behind to do the loots while the rest of the raid moved on

Just one thing you should consider: I've had hardware failures in the past, no speakers yet but more along the lines of two HDDs and a video card, but I'm sure there's a slight chance in the numerous possibilities of things to go wrong that your speakers would lose power, bust, etc. during a raid. Like all things, they have their shelf-life and albeit they last longer than most things, but would it be a good idea to be able to see where you're at on threat in addition to getting your audio alerts? Mainly for the "just in case" scenario. If you have pets, I hear they like chewing on cords, right, Xeos? - Mageofdeath wrote:

This means you can lay down refreshment tables for the casters/healers to stop their QQ'ing about not having a mage table? Also, portals to places DO come in handy. I love to hate Hearth cooldowns, especially when we will be ported to the nearest graveyard when trying to ghetto hearth in 3.1. ~ Sean

| A few quick questions:
1. Your gear looks pretty good but your spellpower seems like it's kind of low. My mage hit 80 on friday and already has 1656 spellpower - 14 more than you do - but I think most of that can be attributed to some gems/enchants. I understand 16 hit gems, but why the (relatively useless) int/stams and such? I'd be going spellpower in red sockets, spellpower/stam in two blues for the meta, and then straight spellpower or maybe sp/crit or sp/hit in other places as necessary for bonuses, etc.
2. Similar question - why 16 Int to wrist instead of 30 (or even the cheaper 23) spellpower?
3. What are the exact glyphs you're using?
4. I've heard a lot about arcane being very a powerful spec right now, even with a few nerfs coming and going. Do you prefer frostfire or arcane?
edit: Okay, just noticed Illustration. So you have about 1850 spellpower while fighting, which is a lot more than my mage. Point still stands about how you could get more, though, by regemming and re-enchanting here and there.

/facepalm I don't know if you're being serious with that last bit or being hella sarcastic. Please see below. - taldra wrote:

Yes. I was just trying to say that it's better to have a visual on your threat in case your audio goes ka-put on you and you can't hear anything. I wasn't questioning your ability, just merely suggesting that you keep an eye on your threat instead of relying on a piece of electronic equipment to yell at you when you get close. Law'd knows that if you live by an airstrip, things can get loud when you think a plane is about to land in your backyard. >,< ~ Sean

| Again, for what its worth. I've raiding with mage many times and not once has he pulled threat even with a serverly undergeared tank. I think this issue of threat alert and having multiple layers of redundancy is getting a bit more attention then it really needs. | |

He answered my question and I wasn't sitting right with his answer, so I asked another one. I didn't realize that was an issue? I was making a suggestion and he made me /facepalm again with his answer. There's no right and wrong answer that I was looking for, he's fully justified with not seeing his threat if he knows what he's doing. I'd just like to be reassured that if he gets into a raid with us, that he won't have a malfunctioning speaker, not hear his audio alert, pull threat and make himself look bad AND cause a wipe. A sarcastic answer to a somewhat serious question is fine and dandy, but if all I get is, "I know my class. I never pull threat," how does that tell me anything other than what he's already said? /woosah TL;DR: If I ask a question and it's not answered, I may be tempted to ask again, or rephrase it in a way that will give me a different result. No need to get butthurt about it. :/ ~ Sean

| All I was saying is thats a what if scenario. What if my mouse falls of the table, breaks, or spontaneously combusts? What if my monitor craps out but my speakers still work. . All I'm saying is hes legit, be assured he will not pull threat. | |

| Varrius try to be civil. Don't worry man we are not trying to attack your intelligence, this is just the only way of filtering out the bads. Clearly you have thought through your current decisions of addons/gear/enchants, but please be aware the in this guild we strive to min/max to the best of each class. Take any criticism as constructive.
Please be available and ready to trial with us on Tuesday with your wife.

Honestly, if you'd like to defend why you're using the gems you're using, that's fine. I'd suggested going back to page one and reading Petrus' post (the 5th reply in the thread) and responding to his questions he has for you. It will help clear up some things people are curious about I'm sure. I recognize Varrius' post wasn't very helpful, but at least respond with something constructive to your case, or at least respond to Petrus' questions. Either way, please respond to Petrus' questions. The Loremaster has questions. Thanks. <3 ~ Sean

| Honestly if you gemmed all +16 sta gems and still pulled near 5k dps I would still invite you on the argument that stamina gives you more hp and surviving the fight doing 5kdps is more damage done then 80% of the fight doing 5.1k dps. Sure I would try to talk you into more dps but that is neither here nor there, we were just trying to make sure that you were thinking you choices through and are open to change when neccasary (Lord knows I have to change spec/gem every patch as a rogue).
I would like to see you guys play on Tuesday =D

I dont see spell power ebing the almighty for casters...I tend to gear more for that prolonged fight when you need that extra mana.. So with int gems and enchants its gives me crit and sp aswell.. other wise i would just get some extra sp thats not going to do me any good if im oom or dead. Your second question is valid but again i go for more crit and mana... I have 35% crit with molten armor and ai I believe my glyphs for dps is the molten armor and ffb glyphs I was pom pyro for the longest time...i love being arcane...but in pve i feel the ffb spec is the way to go.. arcane specs have lots of dps but they normally have very low damage done.. ffb specs do more damage in raids... I HAVE YET TO SEE ANY MAGE DO MORE OVERALL DAMAGE THEN ME

Putting that in caps definitely doesn't make you look insane. And Arcane is tried and proven more raid dps, but it's almost 100% gear dependent.
