Wonder how he got it to touch down level enough so the tail didn't hit first and force the nose into the water so it started cartwheeling, th rowing debris and passengers everywhere as it tore itself apart!

From what I heard, the bird strike happened soon after take off, so he was probably low enough that he could stall out at relatively low airspeed...do kind of a soft "belly flop".

Damn I miss flying...my dad used to take me at the aeroclub on the air force base where he worked when I was young and aviation fuel was still less than $1/gal...
