Bands like this need to learn to stfu and play music. Tune was thumpin' until that douche started "singing".

I played in a 3 piece jam band the summer after my junior year of high school. We had a gig at an all day show featuring about a half dozen bands in some town in the middle of nowhere. All the other bands were of type which smolder seems to approve of. Everyone in the crowd (friends and friends of friends of those bands mostly, ~300-500 people I would guess) were milling around pretty much the whole time -- they were into the scene, clearly, but the music was not the focus. Then we got on stage.
We started with a cover of little wing, then van morrison's like young lovers do. From there we did primarily original jams, but to get a sense of the style, we often jammed on songs like have a cigar (floyd), riviera paradise (SRV), and someday we'll all be free a la charlie hunter (with drums and bass added). All the people in the place stopped what they were doing and simply listened, paying attention not to the social atmosphere they were in, but the music itself. Albeit, you would expect some brief level of attention simply due to the contrast. But we got that, and then intently held the room for at least 3 hours. It was no longer about being there with friends -- people were there because they connected with the music.
That's what real music does.
Don't get me wrong. There is some great hard rock out there. I actually played bass in a tool meets STP meets primus (sounds wierd but it makes sense in a schizophrenic kind of way) type of band in early high school. However, screaming, like anything else in music, can be easily over used. Incessant screaming over any type of musical track is simply tiresome.

Bands like this that i like are rare, but i do like Maximum the Hormone.
is probably their most well know song it was the intro to a popular japanese tv show.
I like a lot of different music, i really love the singers voice of this song, and I like the creepy tone of the song, even when before I knew the words to the song.

I am a fan of heavy music but I am of the opinion that the lyrics should be understood and add something to the song rather than be more akin to another instrument just adding to the sound. Lots of good heavy smash shit music does this and for the record while trans Siberian are great musicians I thought they looked goofy trying to rock on stage.

id rather watch trans-siberian live than some traditional orchestra. My grandparents christmas tradition used to be going out for dinner/lunch and then going and watching this orchestra/choir show for like 2 hours. they stopped doing that when my grandma realized all of the guys found it to be a convenient post meal 2 hour nap.

Eh, I can understand what they are saying. An older buddy of mine listened, and still listens, to the music I listen to now (well the type, not the bands, and what he listened to was a bit harder,) around me when I was about 13. I too didn't like it because I couldn't understand what they were yelling about. But I do now. It's an acquired hearing, I guess.

Feardot..... if that is your music omg. Lol real music is created by people that are true musicians not people that learned to play an instument. Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of the most phenominal guitarists to ever live and he never knew a single chord or musical note. Or couldn't read them at least.

"Sounded good until the dude started 'singing' " pretty much sums up every As I Lay Dying song.
As far as being along the same lines I much prefer In Flames, Mudvayne or even Slipknot.

I disagree Necis. The human voice can be just as instrumental as any string, horn, or key. Lyricism is not even necessary. Just listen to any of the choral-themed WoW tracks or a Vangelis album and you can hear vocal instrumentation without lyricism. But arguing over absolutes in music is probably a lost cause to start.
My point is I was enjoying the music until what I perceive as noise started drowning out what I was enjoying. They start off giving me one set of expectations in a well constructed, melodic song and then ruin it by laying down a track of cacophony that I don't see as adding anything and subtracting a lot. Other people may call it differently, but I say it sucked for this reason.

I actually really enjoy Radiohead, and by association, I enjoy good, or at least interesting covers. If you were trying to radiohead-roll me, you fail.
I actually have no problem listening to this.
Doomus....caman. I can only assume you got rick rolled so hard that you spaced out when you wrote that. No, I don't consider that real music, ALTHOUGH, I do like this "cover" of a U2 song. The guy(s) who put this together actually put some effort into it, unlike that Obama-Roll, which got you lovely.
In case anyone was wondering, yes I do have this song on my ipod.

I was being entirely serious. The musicianship of Chris Thile in this cover is simply genius. Moreover, I am a Radiohead junky. This little jewel in fact made my day amongst 18 hours of writing 35 pages of 8 proofs. Seriously. Junky.
