| btw, all bought from Directron (except case which I bought from Newegg b/c directron was sold out of the black version). I've built my last two computers from there. Shipping is super fast (it took 2 days for all my stuff to arrive compared w/ 5 for newegg). My dad owns a computer business that services public institutions and has used them for years to build his own systems until dell got so cheap it didn't make sense for him anymore, so I can vouch for their reputation. I can safely say that building your own custom system has become almost totally idiot proof, provided your ground yourself before touching anything. I struggled for days to get my last system operational. Only had one glitch with this box and it was me being dumb and forgetting to connect the 12V power supply to the mobo in addition to the main supply. This system ran me about $1400. | |

Good idea. They are located here in Houston, so shipping w/ them has always been free for me, since I go pick up my order(s) in person. They always have really good deals. Gratz on the upgrade. A VERY nice X-Mas present. ~ Sean

| Hmm. Didn't know they were in-state. That would explain why I get everything next day usually. lol
Btw, let me know if anyone gets this particular GFX card or similar (Radeon 48xx series). The default fan settings are retarded and way too low. I almost burned myself touching the exhaust grill before I realized I needed to do some tweaking to the fan software. After tweaking I went from 86C at idle to 45C at idle. Yikes.

| Just repriced my system exactly on newegg:
directron: $1376.91 newegg : $1466.68
And newegg charged 3x for 3-day delivery, being in california and all. Go to newegg if you want the best deal on a $1100 processor I guess, otherwise it's a toss up.

| Close to $500. It's top of the line right now. You could easily get a 9800 GTX 1GB (edit: or a GT260/280 even) for a couple hundred less. But I had $650 in company fringe benefit money to burn before Dec 31st, so I splurged. | |
