| So I was thinking about driving from Tallahasse, FL to Lafayette, LA over the Thanksgiving break and I was wondering if anyone lived in that area (i.e. around Pensacola, New Orleans, etc.) and knew of any interesting things to see or do. I don't know the area at all. I figure the drive along the coast might be nice enough to make the trip worth it, but I don't think that'll be enough to convince the ladyfriend to come along with me on my adventure. On a side note, I got pretty excited when a Dinosaur Adventure Land in Pensacola popped up on Google, but the excitement was very short-lived once I actually visited the site... | |

If you do that, you'll go through the Ocean Springs, Biloxi-Gulfport, Waveland area. Really nice area, but I haven't been down there since Katrina, so I don't know what its like now. I'd recommend a restaurant in Gulfport that was an AMAZING place, but it got blowed away D=

| Last I heard, Biloxi was removed from the map by Katrina/Rita. | |

| Yeah it got hit pretty hard, and most of the old big houses on the shore got washed away, not its mainly casinos and seedy Hotel 8's. The area used to be REALLY nice, I don't know about now | |

I'm going to be at the National High Magnetic Field Lab in Florida doing research up until Thanksgiving, and then a friend of mine is having a wedding in Louisiana that I'd really like to go to the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so I'm thinking about taking the drive and making an adventure of it. Oh, and thanks for the suggestions thus far.

| In Panama City I would recommend eating at places that aren't on the beach. Salvatore's Pizza and Wings is a good example. They are on Middlebeach near walmart and have good shit. Rates are really good this time of year and the beaches are still really nice. Some people even swim/surf in the ocean still this late in the year. If you decide to do some boarding, rent instead of buying a cheapo, you'll thank yourself.
Not sure what the rates are this time of year but we like to go to a place called Pineapple Beach that is at the west end of "the strip" but it is plenty close to enough things but you still have to drive to go to Club La Vela and all that shit.
Oh yeah, depending on where you are driving back to after going to Lafayette but Shreveport is up 110 to I20 and they have a nice boardwalk section along with good casinos if thats your thing. I manage to go there and spend very little money and get plastered so its all in how you play.
