| You know you can go to your local comic shop to buy the first issue of the warhammer comic? It has a 1 in 5 chance to have a code to the closed beta in it. | |

| AoC looks decent. It may prove to be entertaining for a few months. Highlights include:- Amazing graphics (beautiful landscape and character rendering)
- Great sound
- Unique combat system
- Relatively easy character development
- Open PvP system (well, I see it as a plus)
- Talent tree system very similar to WoW's
But it has its problems...- Absolutely ridiculous system requirements (I think the game takes 32 gigs of storage space and let's not talk about performance requisites)
- Severe class imbalances, in part due to the fact that it's a new game and the last stage of production was rushed
- Repetitiveness in leveling, starting areas, quests; most end-game leveling comes from grinding mobs
- Instances/dungeons are really poorly thought out
- Lack of high-end content
Warhammer Online makes me cry. I'm a huge Warhammer fan, and I played the beta for this game... It looks terrible. Awful interface, bugs so prevalent as to make me wonder if I was playing a pre-alpha version, boring combat system. About all the game has going for it is the fact that it stuck "Warhammer" in its name and can rape content from the fantasy universe created by GamesWorkshop. It should go back into the development cycle and become a never-ending project like Darkfall Online (a game I've been following since before I started playing WoW).

| I looked around at Darkfall and that game looks pretty cool. I just hope the computer requirements aren't to high. I read its supposed to come out in 2008! | |

| Hell, I'm still waiting for Spore.
Seriously though, Z, you can live with me and my crew on our pirate ship when Darkfall comes out. We're still voting on the name. So far 'The Blue Lightcycle' is winning. Apparently they didn't like my idea of Irreverent Joy.

| Spore, yes.
I wish the online component wasn't so passive since I figure a few of us will be on it.
I thought Darkfall was kind of like Duke Nukem Forever isn't it?

| Basically. The wait time has been shorter (got started later), and the fan base hasn't completely lapsed into cynicism and apathy (yet). | |

| I managed to snag a copy from a friend, and here's my view:
As a melee character, you can't move while executing the last hit of a combo. In PvP this makes dancing around like a retard a viable defense strategy. Lag makes this unbearable. Due to the complex combo/attack system, playing a caster is similar to playing a mage in WoW, whereas playing a melee character is like playing tekken over the internet, and all the hit checks are serverside. Bugs aren't too bad, but the system requirements are pretty steep. I wouldn't play it on anything less than a 7800gt and e4300 with 2 gigs. The friend who gave the game to me has a 6800 and it's pretty laggy on his system. Instances are poorly executed- lots of bugs making completing the majority of the single player dungeons yield no loot whatsoever from bosses. Endgame material is sparse beyond building guild cities and crafting. From 36-41 there's a lack of quests, and from 55-80 there's very few as well. You pretty much grind those levels.
That being said, the instance problems and lack of quests issue is their first priority, and patches are coming pretty quickly, so I would assume these problems would be fixed. Regardless, I'm not going to invest anything in this game because of the horrible situation for melee. I guess if I had gone caster, I'd be going to buy a gamecard at some point.

| Got it, and for it's PvE aspects I'm really enjoying it. No PvP experience as of yet. | |

| Got it, Ground to 65, quit it. Graphics are cool and open pvp is sweet, bugs suck, interface is difficult with combos. Give it 6 months and see where it has leveled out to IMO. I too am waiting on Darkfall and Spore. | |

Obviously this is a late post (It's a re-link of a re-link from the Gorg forums). But in case some of you haven't seen it already, this article confirms everything I said almost two months ago! Man I'm good! I'll be accepting donations for my next prediction.
